My favorite moment in any of the Buffyverse comics thus far has been when Spike’s soul is stolen in his miniseries and he goes, “Really?  That was your plan?  I fought for my soul, I fought for the white hats before I had it, and you thought taking it away would turn me back into a monster?  Dumbass.”  I’m paraphrasing, of course, but: characterization, they did awesome on this front.
