He kisses her for the first time—this go-round, anyway—between the shelves of the bookstore where he (still) works, and her heart flutters like she’s seventeen again and calling him when her mom explicitly told her not to.
They do it again the next time she’s in town—all of it, that is, dinner and a bad movie and kissing between bookshelves; eventually, the kissing happens other places as well.
The campaign ends and Rory doesn’t have a new job yet—there’s no work in covering a campaign that no longer exists—but it doesn’t feel weird to click on the Philadelphia page of Craigslist; she types a quick text that says what if I got a job in Philly and the answer is immediate—my bed is always open :).
Why did you come here? I mean, you ditched school and everything. That’s so not you. Why’d you do it?
